Robert Ivy is the latest awardee of the Noel Polk Lifetime Award from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters. Currently, Ivy is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Architects. Through his progressive improvement of the institute since the year 2011, he attained the position of the executive vice president. The CEO purposes to inform the public about the architecture and has the willingness to support professional architecture. The award is to honor the progressive achievement of Ivy as an origin of Mississippi. Noel Polk Award also recognizes other Mississippi-connect artists and art patrons, who have the willingness to support, create, and perform art.
Robert Ivy got enlisted in the group of the few Mississippians with the same honor as Walter Anderson, Freeman Morgan, and Eudora Welty. MIAL President, Nancy LaForge recommended Ivy as a commentator, editor, and a writer, who has expertise in the architectural field. AIA President, Carl Elefante said that the honoree is the ambassador of all missions in the AIA as a practicing author, editor, and artist. Elefante found pleasure in congratulating Ivy for his lifetime achievement award on behalf of the AIA group. The CEO assumes the rightful position by receiving the award to recognize his professionalism and determination in architecture.
Before moving to AIA in the year 2011, Robert Ivy led as the Editor-in-Chief of McGraw Hill’s Architectural Record. The journal became the most recognized across the world under the visionary leadership of Ivy and skillfulness in architecture. The journal received the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. During the exposure in China, the CEO formed the McGraw Hill’s design and construction, which became equally famous. Also, he established the Mandarin Version of Architectural Record in the Middle East and China.
Through the able leadership of Robert Ivy, AIA is at its highest level of performance in the 160-year history. The AIA formulated the seven global chapters that enable the American to practice architecture in any place across the Globe. Also, ivy got recognized by the National Architecture Fraternity for promoting and highly valuing the Architectural design. For that particular reason, he shares the Master Architect with various other ionic architects like Richard Buckminster, Mies-van-der-Rohe, and I.M. Pei. Ivy is the single architect to achieve the Noel Polk Lifetime Award in a 100-year history of the fraternity and the only Mississippian in the 21st century. Ivy symbolizes the prosperous future of AIA.
